Media Advisory: From Storage Room to Community Room: Tenants and Partners Create Space For LeBreton Community and Culture to Thrive

OTTAWA – On Friday, May 12, residents and community leaders will be cutting the ribbon on a long-awaited community room opening at LeBreton Flats. This freshly renovated space, which was once a storage unit, has been transformed into a meeting and activity room. With a kitchenette and universal washroom, it is accessible to the 300 building residents.

This vital infrastructure supports community development in a neighbourhood with disproportionately high levels of poverty and residents living on low incomes.

The LeBreton Community Room was funded by a Hard Hat Heroes (HHH) Grant and came together with the efforts of the building’s tenants, United Way East Ontario (UWEO), PCL Construction, Somerset West Community Health Centre, (SWCHC) and Ottawa Community Housing Corp (OCHC).
